Abroad Vaccination 2 Weeks Before Going

There are still some countries that the region is prone to various diseases. One way to protect the health of the vaccination. Vaccines are not only needed by young children, but also adults. It was also suggested by an allergy specialist Clinical Immunology Department of Medicine Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Dr. Iris Rengganis, SpPD.

"Prevention abroad, such as pilgrimage, can be done by vaccination," said Iris, a media event discussion "Great Travelling, Protect Yourself with Vaccination" in SCBD, Jakarta, on Thursday, February 14, 2013.

Iris strongly recommend that people who will go abroad should be vaccinated at least two weeks before departure. That's because their immune systems are made after vaccination will be made two weeks later. "Antibodies are the body will begin to form an average of two weeks after vaccination," he said.

He explained that the actual body produced antibodies to the vaccine will vary in time. For a good stamina, antibodies will be formed after 10 days. Conversely, those who were poor body condition, will be formed about three weeks. "So the average is two weeks of antibodies are formed," he said.

In order to be sure the vaccine will be effective when abroad, Iris suggests, at least one month prior to abroad should be vaccinated. Because, when it was at its destination, it is likely that antibodies are formed and protect the body.

The vaccine will continue to protect the body over the next three years. "When the vaccine immunity three years. During that time, the antibodies will persist in the body," he said. And if a person is more than three years in areas prone to the disease, vaccination can be carried back to keep her endurance.
